This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-06. At the GS-05 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-06. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Performs work in support of the agency's cash processing operations which involve the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody and other clerical or administrative tasks; Receives and/or disburses cash in accordance with the corresponding laws, rules, and regulations for the transaction; Ensures the fulfillment of regulatory requirements associated with depository functions; Utilizes the computerized system to record transactions; Exercises responsibility for the direct support of agency cash/check/electronic funds transfer processing functions involving the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody and other clerical processing of cash; Examines and performs quality audits of deposits in order to ensure regulatory issues are met, reconciles cash accountability, and reviews vouchers for completeness, accuracy and propriety before making payment, referring questionable vouchers for audit prior to disbursement; Processes cash-link deposits and e-payments in a timely manner. Experience:
Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Cashier position. To be creditable this experience must have been equivalent to the GS-04 in Federal service. Specialized experience includes working experience with accounting, budget and/or financial management operations and procedures in a health care organization; working experience with accounting terminology/accounting basics; possessing cash handling experience; reconciling cash and reviewing vouchers for completeness, accuracy and propriety before making payment; referring questionable vouchers for audit prior to disbursement; processing electronic payments or conducting online transactions. (this experience must be documented in your resume) OR Education:
Possess four (4) years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Transcripts Required) OR Combination of Experience and Education:
Possess a combination of experience and successfully completed education may be used to meet the total experience requirements to qualify at the Grade 5. (Transcripts Required) You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
