Financial Accounts Technician (OPECC)

Maintains the integrity of the Veteran's Administration's database through accurate claims submission and closure. Developing and validating data to successfully resubmit claims to acquire payment Coordinates with local insurance staff and staff of other VA facilities to ensure completeness and accuracy of entries in patient's files so that claims are submitted in an accurate and timely manner. Initiates or performs all follow-up actions on various worklist based on a variant number of criteria (age of receivable, type of receivable, amount of receivable). Maintains payer plan file, insuring accuracy of entries to facilitate electronic submission of claims. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Receives and responds to a variety of written and oral communication generated by Third Party pharmacy payers. Ensures proper follow-up procedures are done through phone calls to the insurance companies, accessing insurance company's online data base and submitting letters to the insurance company and the Veteran. Reviews returned/rejected claims for reason for rejection or denial, taking appropriate corrective action and resubmitting claims for payment. Ensure claims are submitted in compliance with specific requirements of the appropriate insurance carrier in order to improve collections. Reviews,researches and analyzes records. Utilizing various databases and reporting tools, responsible for running multiple report and working those reports Maintains the integrity of the database through accurate claims submission and closure You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting at a desk, working with computers daily. Some work may require walking in offices and similar areas for meetings. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite. The work does not require any special physical effort. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
