This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-06. At the GS-05 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-06. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds. - Performs work in support of the agency's cash processing operations which involve the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody and other clerical or administrative tasks. - Receives and/or disburses cash in accordance with the corresponding laws, rules, and regulations for the transaction. - Ensures the fulfillment of regulatory requirements associated with depository functions. - Utilizes the computerized system to record transactions. - Exercises responsibility for the direct support of agency cash/check/electronic funds transfer processing functions involving the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody and other clerical processing of cash. - Manages and is accountable for any loss or shortages of funds under your control of the Treasury Department; - Examines and performs quality audits of deposits in order to ensure regulatory issues are met, reconciles cash accountability, and reviews vouchers for completeness, accuracy and propriety before making payment, referring questionable vouchers for audit prior to disbursement; - Ensures conformance to procedures and instructions contained in the Department of Treasury Manual of Procedures and Instructions for Cashiers. - Processes cash-link deposits and e-payments in a timely manner. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-5:
having one (1) or more years specialized experience that equips you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position at the GS-05? To be creditable this experience must have been equivalent to the GS-04 in Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience includes:
Experience with accounting, budget and/or financial management operations and procedures in a health care organization; Experience with insurance/medical terminology or accounting terminology/accounting basics; Cash handling experience; Experience examining and performing quality audits of deposits; Processing electronic payments or conducting online transactions. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE GS-5:
having four (4) years of successfully completed education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION GS-5:
having the equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet the total requirements for the position. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED). To qualify at the GS-6 grade level, you must possess the following:

In additional to meeting the Specialize Experience above at the GS-5 grade level, you must meet specialized experience at the GS-6 grade level. Have one (1) or more years of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of this Cashier position and that is related to the position. Qualifying specialized experience includes:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
