WELDER (TITLE 32)

As a Welder, WG-3703-10, you will perform welding duties using electric, acetylene, and/or inert gas shielded welding processes, pre-heating, brazing, head welding, tack welding, flame cutting, pressure welding, and heat treating. Use templates, jigs, blueprints, and other guides to repair, modify, or fabricate metal items including repair of light or intricately made mechanical parts, which must fit in assemblies where close tolerances are required. Braze dissimilar metals; flame cuts metal to size for fabrication, using regular welding equipment. Read and interpret blueprints and sketches. Lays out, positions, and clamps work; selects type of rod and size of tip to accomplish weld. Determines heat necessary; adjusts equipment accordingly. Perform other duties as assigned. Experience:
Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the basic knowledge of welding processes. Must have knowledge of technical orders, blueprints and specifications. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
18 months of experience or training demonstrating the application of a variety of electric resistance welding processes and equipment. Experience in using accepted trade methods and a variety of manual welding processes to weld all types of commonly used metals in various shapes, sizes and thicknesses. Experience using a wider range of metal welding processes to make more difficult welds meeting close tolerance, strength and other requirements. These welds may be in hard to reach places. Experience which allows the welder to devise special jigs and fixtures to hold the parts to be welded. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of several related trade procedures. Experience which enables the lay out and planning of work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications and work orders.
