By Light is seeking a System Administrator with virtualization experience. This position will be responsible for administering multiple VMWare vSphere environments that support 4000 users with desktop virtualization. The incumbent will also provide SQL Server database administration as well as administer EMC Data Storage and Cisco SAN Fabric networks. By keeping the VA-CPAC environment optimized and fully-functioning, this position supports the VA's insurance revenue collection efforts in order to best serve our nation's Veterans.
Installs and configures hardware and software necessary to support database and web systems and enterprise virtual server and virtual desktop environments.
Installs, configures and maintains virtual servers and virtual desktop infrastructure in a centralized and/or distributed computing environment using VMWare vSphere and VMWare View.
Serves as the primary SME for Microsoft SQL Clusters.
Designs, configures and administers disaster recovery systems and services to include replication of data to a continuity of operations (COOP) location.
Resolves hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.
Installs/Configures/Maintains Enterprise storage area network (SAN) using EMC hardware and software.
Manages the installation and integration of system fixes, updates, and enhancements.
Manages system accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
Manages systems resources including performance, capacity, and availability.
Ensures systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.
Manages, administers, and ensures security, maintenance, and operation of database systems
Designs, maintains, updates, analyzes and monitors data integrity and security of computer databases and ensures that the databases support users programs.
Evaluates problematic trends on customer reported issues.
Establishes and disseminates standard procedures and technical guidance to computer technicians and computer users on all levels.

SQL 2008 and/or 2012 in a virtual environment (installation, clustering, maintenance routines, backup methodologies, and performance tuning)
SharePoint 2013 server-side (backend) administration in complex farm environments (more than 3 servers)
General network knowledge required
NOTE: Employee must be capable of lifting, transporting for short distance, and placing equipment with weight up to 50 lbs. Employee also must be able to maneuver within tight spaces to interconnect cabling as required.
Required Experience/Certifications/Education: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline plus 5 years relevant work experience OR 13 years relevant work experience (5 plus 8 years to substitute for education).
