That makes the storage and distribution of ammunition - all ammunition - an undertaking of paramount importance. That's where the Ammunition Specialist comes in: to make sure this vital job is done correctly. The primary responsibility of an Army National Guard Ammunition Specialist is to ensure the proper receipt, storage, documentation, and issuance of conventional ammunition, guided missiles, large rockets, and related items. These duties might include the inspection, modification, and demilitarization of various munitions. You will also learn the maintenance of nuclear weapons, as well as the handling, testing, and maintenance of missiles and rockets. The skills you learn as an Ammunition Specialist will help prepare you for a civilian career with government agencies and private industries performing ordnance research and development. Job training for an Ammunition Specialist consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, as well as 10 weeks and two days of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications. Actual MOS assignment may depend on MOS availability. Benefits subject to change.
